Posibla develops a starch based material that is 100% renewable and biodegradable and can be used for a number of thin film applications.

Plastic Bag Chalmers
Posibla develops a new biomaterial to be used for creating thin films. The material is starch based and created from only renewable resources. The first application will be within the field of bags for food waste. Within this field we have found the strongest interest for the material and the most resources for the development. However, a new material gives opportunities for many applications in the future. Our scientists have managed to use a conventional film-blowing method to create films consisting of only starch and natural plasticizers. This gives a material that is cleaner and cheaper than other environmental friendly films on the market today and a good starting point for creating many new products. The technology has been proven in lab-scale and tested in a smaller industrial scale. Moreover, a patent application has been filed. The innovation has its background from Chalmers University of Technology and constitutes of technologies developed at the department of polymeric materials by Professor Antal Boldizar. Posibla was founded in collaboration between Boldizar and CSE Incubation AB and has its origin from Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship.
